The Clinical Informatics Specialist is responsible for the effective implementation, support, and optimization of clinical information systems within the organization. This role serves as a key resource for clinicians and administrative staff, ensuring that technology solutions enhance patient care, streamline clinical workflows, and comply with regulatory standards.
Position Details
- Work Location: In-office position located at 4266 Sunbeam Rd, Jacksonville, FL. No work from home at this time.
- Compensation: Competitive base salary, plus full benefit package including 23 days annual PTO
- Compensation: $75,000 - $85,000 base salary, plus full benefit package including 23 days annual PTO
Job Responsibilities
- Assist in the configuration, customization, and deployment of clinical information systems.
- Provide day-to-day support for clinical information systems, addressing user issues and system malfunctions.
- Collaborate with IT and clinical staff to ensure smooth system implementations and transitions.
- Develop and deliver training programs for clinical staff on the effective use of clinical information systems.
- Create user guides, training materials, and documentation to support system utilization.
- Conduct ongoing education sessions to keep staff updated on system enhancements and best practices.
- Analyze clinical workflows to identify opportunities for process improvements and system enhancements.
- Work with clinical teams to redesign workflows that integrate technology effectively and improve efficiency.
- Act as a liaison between clinical staff, IT departments, and external vendors to facilitate effective communication and problem-solving.
- Gather and document user requirements and feedback to inform system improvements and future developments.
- Participate in interdisciplinary teams and committees focused on clinical informatics initiatives.
- Stay current with industry trends, standards, and best practices in clinical informatics.
- Assist in the development and implementation of policies and procedures to maintain compliance and data security.
- Performs annual security audits within clinical applications as well as focused audits on an as needed basis.
- Completes other tasks as assigned.
Education, Experience, & Certifications
Any combination of education and/or experience that would provide the required skill and knowledge for successful performance would be acceptable.
Typical qualifications would be equivalent to:
- Bachelor's degree in Health Informatics, Nursing, Health Information Management, or a related field.
- Certification in Clinical Informatics or a related discipline (e.g., CPHIMS-Certified Professional in Healthcare Information and Management Systems, or CAHIMS-Certified Associate in Healthcare Information and Management Systems) preferred.
- Minimum of four years experience in a clinical informatics role or related healthcare IT position.
Desired Knowledge & Skills
- Strong understanding of healthcare workflows and healthcare IT systems specific to Hospice, Palliative Care, Home Health, and/or PACE, including CMS guidelines, HIPAA, and quality measures (e.g., HIS, Home Health CAHPS).
- Ability to work with interdisciplinary teams (e.g., social workers, therapists, physicians) to align technology with clinical needs.
- Excellent verbal and written skills, with experience creating training material, user documentation, and presenting technical concepts to diverse audiences.
- Skilled in providing empathetic, solution-focused support to clinical users and resolving system issues effectively.
- Experience with EMRs (e.g., Suncoast, Axxess, Wellsky, Insync, KanTime), communication tools (Microsoft Teams), and support systems for issue tracking and prioritization and change requests.
- Strong analytical skills to optimize workflows, resolve workflow discrepancies, and enhance system efficiency.
- Experience supporting IT projects, system implementations, and change management.
